Use the button below to start a new application if you are an external student. You don't have to finish your application immediately, you can save and continue later. But please note -the deadline for applications is Monday 29th January 2024. Any applications received after this date will not be considered and any incomplete/unfinished applications will be removed.
Up to 10 sporting aptitude places are available for entry to Year 12. A student is only eligible for a Sporting (rugby) Aptitude place if they have achieved the minimum academic entry requirements. Sporting aptitude places are open to girls and boys.
Sporting (rugby) Aptitude places will be allocated as per the oversubscription criteria and allocated in rank order of scores from theSporting (rugby) Aptitude Assessment Day.
All applicants who have registered for sporting (rugby)aptitude places will be invited to attend a Sporting (rugby) Aptitude Assessment Day. There is one opportunity for candidates to be assessed for sporting aptitude.
Any candidate who has expressed an interest in the sporting aptitude test (via the application form) will be invited to attend the Sporting Aptitude Assessment which will take place on Saturday 25th January 2025. There will be no other opportunity to attend the Sporting Aptitude Assessment. The sporting aptitude assessment will give all participants the opportunity to demonstrate their potential and propensity to develop ability in sport through a variety of tasks and tests. The tests will be administered by our own specialist PE staff and the process will be subject to oversight by an independent assessor. Scores will be awarded for each element of the aptitude assessment. When all assessments have been completed a rank order of applicants for the Sporting (rugby) Aptitude places will be produced and a threshold will be applied. Up to 10 candidates above the threshold, in rank order, will be eligible for a place under the sporting aptitude criterion.
If a student participates in the Sporting Aptitude Assessment but is not successful in gaining a score to be considered for one of these places, they can still be considered for a place in Year 12 at the school under the other admission criteria. Taking part in the Sporting Aptitude Assessment in no way disadvantages a student in their chances of gaining a place in the school under other admission criteria.
On the application form, students will find a section on Sporting (rugby) Aptitude which they can select if they wish to participate in the Sport Aptitude test. Please note that there is no other date available for the sporting aptitude test to take place.
The rationale for reserving up to 10% of the school’s Year 12 places for those who excel in the sporting aptitude assessment is to ensure we widen opportunities for young people who show both academic excellence and an additional range of skills.
